2020 Financial Management Seminars

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs (OJP) offers grantees a limited number of 2-day financial management training seminars. OJP will host ten Basic Financial Management Training Seminars and two Advanced Financial Management Training Seminars. Eight will take place in Washington, DC, on January 29-30, February 26-27, March 25-26, April 22-23, July 22-23, August 19-20, November 18-19, and December 2-3, 2020. Two additional Basic Financial Management Training Seminars will take place outside of Washington, DC, one in San Diego, CA, on June 17-18, and one in San Antonio, TX on September 23-24, 2020. In addition, OJP has scheduled two Advanced Financial Management Training Seminars on May 20-21, and October 21-22, 2020.

The Financial Management Training Seminars are designed for individuals responsible for the financial administration of discretionary and/or formula grants awarded from Federal grant-in-aid programs administered by the Bureaus and Offices of DOJ OJP, including the Bureau of Justice Assistance; Bureau of Justice Statistics; National Institute of Justice; Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention; Office for Victims of Crime; and the Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking Office. Officials from OJP's Office of the Chief Financial Officer lead each live seminar.

As an alternative to attending a live seminar, we encourage grantees to take advantage of the free online Grants Financial Management training course designed specifically for DOJ grantees. This online course covers the same topics as the live seminar and the completion of this course fulfills any requirement for training that is required by your grant. Grantees are required to pre-register and obtain explicit approval to attend the live seminars. Due to security concerns, only pre-registered participants are admitted. All attendees must bring picture ID for admittance.

There is no registration fee for the seminars. However, attendees are responsible for all costs associated with their participation in a seminar, including transportation, lodging, and meals. The seminar format is informal, and participants are invited to dress business casual. Attendance is limited, so register as soon as possible. We encourage online registration, as the seminars usually fill up within a few hours, with a limited waiting list. Please note that registering for a seminar does not guarantee you can attend. All enrolled applicants undergo an approval process and are notified via a second email of their final registration status approximately 3–4 weeks after registration. Please do not make travel arrangements until you receive your second notice confirming attendance.
